Animal Characteristics

Identification:The Eurasian badger has grayish-black upper parts, black undersides including legs and feet, and a white head and ear tips. The badger also has a black facial stripe.

Diet:Omnivore: earthworms, small animals, bulbs, fruit, nuts
Reproduction:After mating in February-October, implantation of the fertilized egg is delayed by 3-9 months. Two to four young are born the following spring. Eurasian badgers live up to 25 years old in captivity.
A family group of up to 12 individuals may live in a network of burrows, called setts. When traveling, however, badgers do so alone.
Behavior:Eurasian badgers are nocturnal and playful creatures.
