No description of life on the farm would be complete without mentioning animals and those who care for them. Basic commodities such as eggs, dairy products, meat, leather and wool are often produced in addition to grains and vegetable crops. Cattle ranching families frequently plant and harvest corn and alfalfa to feed their livestock.

The Rocky Mountain Farmers Union sponsored bus tours of farms to acquaint members and visitors with the production techniques and equipment utilized by regional farmers, promoting social interaction as well as technical education.
