Selected items were scanned and saved in TIFF format using the SilverFast Ai software, and manipulated using Adobe Photoshop CS. Dell OptiPlex GX280 and Dimension 8250 desktop computers with the Windows XP Professional operating system were used as scanning workstations. All photographs, letters, magazine advertisements, trade inserts, newsletters, and other print materials were scanned on an Epson Expression 1640XL flatbed scanner. All slides and transparencies were scanned on an Epson Expression 1680 flatbed scanner. Access images in JPEG format were generated from TIFFs using Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0. All OCR was performed using the Scansoft OmniPage Pro 14 software and transcripts were saved in TXT files. All digital master images and access images were created according to Western States Digital Imaging Best Practices (version 1.0). JPEG images, transcripts, and metadata were uploaded though CONTENTdm, a digital collection management software by DiMeMa Inc., to provide Web access. The items have been migrated to the CSU Digital Repository and copied to a Solr database which is accessible in Discovery, a search tool of the Colorado State University Libraries.
